Traditional Brick & Stone Restoration for London's Period Homes

We looked at lots of websites and are so pleased that we found this one. Having bought a property that needed extensive brick work, we contacted Mr John O’Connell, and we were not disappointed with his work, or his pricing.

We couldn’t be happier with the work carried out by the Artisan team. Our period block of flats needed urgent repair and repointing after a large piece of sandstone fell to the pavement below — Niall and John came to the rescue quickly, with scaffolding and protective cladding up within 24 hours. The team explained how traditional lime mortar repairs protect the brickwork far better than hard cement, which can actually damage the surrounding masonry over time. Using traditional methods felt like the right approach — and the cost was no different either. Their attention to detail is excellent; the brick dye colour match is spot on and the finish looks completely in keeping with the age of the property. It’s refreshing to deal directly with the people doing the work — no shortcuts, no fuss, just high-quality craftsmanship. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

We had significant areas of damaged brickwork across the whole front facade that needed putting right. John and Niall took the time to explain exactly what needed doing and why, which gave us real confidence from the start. The standard of work was excellent — you would never know where the brick repairs had been carried out. The team colour-matched and dyed the brickwork throughout, and the repointing across the entire facade, including the reveals, sills and surrounding masonry, is neat and consistent — exactly what you’d expect on a period property. It’s given the front of our house a real lift. We found them to be honest, hardworking and clearly proud of their work. I’d be very happy to recommend them to others.
